Prospective parents ask that question all the time. There are so many ways to answer it. I'll start with the empirical evidence. National studies on day school graduates show that:
• Day school grads express an extraordinary sense of responsibility toward influencing social values, helping those in need and affecting social change. 100 percent of Mirowitz alumni parents surveyed say that Mirowitz prepared their child to be an advocate for others. |
• Day school graduates are more resistant to social pressures that lead to risky behaviors than their public and private school peers. (Prizmah study) |
• Jewish day school students are equipped with Jewish literacy and a proficient knowledge of prayer. |
We love that community rabbis rely on our graduates to teach their religious school classes, to lead youth services and to serve as youth ambassadors to their boards.
• Graduates of day schools are predisposed to use their leadership skills to strengthen Jewish communities. At a gathering of student leaders at Hillel foundation, 70 percent indicated that they had attended a Jewish day school. 100 percent of alumni parents surveyed say their Mirowitz graduates were involved in Jewish studies and community organizations during high school. |
• Jewish day school students develop a profound commitment to Israel. Our alumni feel well informed, understand Israel's complexities, and love Israel...even as they grapple with current affairs. (See alumna Tamar Lerner's Op Ed in The Times of Israel.) |
• As a Pluralistic day school, Mirowitz fosters a value of diversity and the ability to maintain relationships that both transcend and preserve the diversity of our community. At Mirowitz, all of that is combined with the highest quality of academics and daily discussions about living an ethical and just life.
And all of these studies are backed by testimonials like those below from parents of our alumni who entered college this year. |
What is our child's greatest achievement? It's that he is a kind, empathetic, knowledgeable and proactive young man, with a sense of responsibility for himself, his community and beyond. Our Jewish Day School was a partner in strengthening these values. - Rachel
My daughter is confident and self assured, and I have no doubt that was fostered at Mirowitz. - Renee
My daughter knows who she is, and throughout high school, she did not let others opinions influence her to do things that did not align with her values. I feel she is a kinder, more thoughtful, and more self-assured person because she went to Mirowitz. - Jennifer
We hope you, too, feel the tangible and intangible benefits of your Mirowitz decision. (We'd love to hear about it. You can email me here.)
Shabbat Shalom, |

Check your email inbox. One parent in each household has received your child's re-enrollment agreement for the 23-24 school year!
When one parent signs (digitally), it will forward to a second parent (if applicable) for signing, and then to Raquel. To avoid a $500 late fee and the loss of any scholarship awarded, this process must be completed by February 28.
Thank you for being part of the Mirowitz community. It is an honor to partner with you to raise a generation of learners and leaders who are ethically responsible, intellectually capable, and who find pride and strength in their Jewish heritage.

The season for our 3rd and 4th grade boys, 2nd grade boys and 3rd grade girls came to a close Sunday. The 3rd grade girls finished their season with a win, as did the 3rd/4th grade boys who finished with a 7-1 record. |
Our 2nd graders finished the season with a loss, but according to Coach Scott Shafrin, "The boys played hard, definitely had more rebounds and defensive stops than any previous game." The 4th-6th grade boys had two games this week, both wins, 34-20 over Rossman School, and 71-6 over Andrews Academy of Lake St. Louis.
The team improves to 3-1 with the wins, and next plays on Wednesday at home against the Fulton School.
The middle school boys team earned a win this week with a 36-6 win over Principia. 8th grader Corey led the way with 8 points. Evan, Noam and Sammy each added 6 points. The team won their 3rd straight game, and their record improves to 4-8.
Tuesday, our middle school girls defeated Principia 30-2. 5th grader Abby led the way with 14 points and 5 assists. Hallel added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Then on Thursday, the girls dropped a tight game to Mississippi Valley Christian from Alton, 20-15. Abby again led the way with 7 points, and Anna had her best game to date with 6 points. The girls record stands at 3-8.

Alumni Parents...
It's been awhile since your kids walked the halls at Mirowitz...but if you are like us, you still think about the impact of those years and the community we built together.
Let's get together — a reunion and packing party — to put together Mishloach Manot to send to our kids wherever they are! Mirowitz will provide wine and appetizers for the grown ups!

Morah Raquel, Reb Scott and Morah Shannon joined Mirowitz students Dan, Lucy and Gavi and Mirowitz parents Daniel Bogard, Rory Picker Neiss and Russel Neiss in Jefferson City to testify before the Missouri Legislature about bills harmful to LGBTQIA+ children at our school and around the state.
They were interviewed by various news publications and by Mirowitz alum Sophie Hurwitz. Shannon wrote an op ed piece for the Jewish Light. We are proud that the leadership of our community leads by example, and that our students learn young that they can use their voices to effect change. |
Mirowitz lower school students' study of global dances has included traditional dance techniques from India, Argentina, Romania, China, Ivory Coast and Israel, each taught by guest teachers who are excited to share their heritage and passion with our students. |
Mirowitz 4th graders are learning about the role of the state legislature from Rep. Stacey Newman! In a month, they will take their knowledge and passion to meet with their elected officials in Jefferson City. They are only 9 and 10, and already using their voices to make a difference. |
Mirowitz faculty and staff are spending the day learning about implicit bias, social identities, equity, and how we can be inclusive and just in our work. |

Our Parent In Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the start of the flowering of our redemption. Shield it with Your love. Spread over it the shelter of Your peace, Guide its leaders and advisors with Your light and Your truth. Establish for them Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of the defenders of our Holy Land. Cause them to inherit, our God, deliverance. Place the crown of victory upon them. Give the land peace and everlasting joy to its inhabitants. |
