When I first became a classroom teacher, I was only 22 years old and a real newbie. I was assigned to an inclusive 5th-grade public school classroom where I immediately learned the importance of constant contact with parents, and especially about the value of conferences.
Because at conferences, parents would tell me how THEY learned as kids. They would share their fears for their children, their pride, and their insights about what was working and what was not.
And during those moments, I learned to be a better observer and listener. And I learned that every child deserves a loving team of adults who work in partnership as cheerleaders (that’s the parents’ job) and coaches (their teachers). |
Fast forward, and I have raised two fabulous kids, I became a school administrator and my primary role is to understand how each student is progressing in our school.
I know for certain that we all want the same thing for your children: that they thrive in the classroom and on the playground, that they feel both challenged and successful, that they recognize the good in themselves and in each other. And even with all of the communication by text and email, conferences is the best time to make sure we all — cheerleaders and coaches — share a gameplan.
We hope you found your conferences to be productive. Thank you for taking the time to partner with us. |

At Mirowitz, we believe that the middle school years should be joyful ones. They are about gaining skills and knowledge, and also strength of character and self confidence. They prepare students for academic rigor, and also for ethical leadership. They allow young adolescents to focus on personal growth, yet understand their responsibility to the world around them.
Come see us in action, hear details about our program, and see for yourself that an ideal middle school experience is possible…at Mirowitz.

"Like most schools, we learn math and science and social studies…but we also learn to be good human beings." |
3rd graders had a prairie undernight at Mirowitz, and spent twilight hours removing invasive species from the prairie and taking a night hike on the nature trail. |

The Fall sports season came to a close last Sunday as four of our youth soccer teams played their final games. Mirowitz Kindergartners won their last game 6-3, with three goals by Diana. Our 2nd grade boys fell 5-2 despite goals by Daniel and Yishama. The 3rd grade girls team lost their final game as well, 6-3. Abigail scored all three goals for Mirowitz. Finally, our 3rd/4th grade boys ended with a 12-2 win. Yoni, Henry and 2nd grader Aaron all scored four goals each. Big props to Aaron and Yoni who combined to score 40 goals this season for this team. |

I have worn glasses since kindergarten, and know how expensive they can be. Many people who need glasses cannot afford them or optometry appointments.
For my bar mitzvah, I am collecting usable glasses. I will give them to Lion's Club International, and they will recycle them and give them to people who need them. I will also work to help people obtain optometry appointments. |
I have placed a collection box in the lobby. Please consider donating your used (but usable) glasses. Thanks for helping me recycle for sight!

I was so close with my Mirowitz teachers. We knew each other on a personal level. I knew I could trust them to be there for me. All of my classmates felt that way.

All my teachers at Mirowitz taught me to assert myself and use my voice for change. I still use my voice to inform people about Judaism. Knowledge is the best thing to fight antisemitism.

We chose our house for the public schools, but fell in love with Mirowitz. We are all so glad we changed our minds. Our son loves school, we love his teachers, and we love the things he is learning. Best of all, when we visit, we see him with his arms around his friends. He's joyful! I had high expectations, and Mirowitz has exceeded all of them.

Our Parent In Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the start of the flowering of our redemption. Shield it with Your love. Spread over it the shelter of Your peace, Guide its leaders and advisors with Your light and Your truth. Establish for them Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of the defenders of our Holy Land. Cause them to inherit, our God, deliverance. Place the crown of victory upon them. Give the land peace and everlasting joy to its inhabitants. |
